Thomas Dickson
I have a master’s degree in architecture, but specialized in industrial design. Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Furthermore, I have a minor degree in journalism and have completed an extensive coaching education at the University of Umeå, Sweden.
Since 1990 I have run my own design office – in the beginning under the name Tomcat Design. Besides of that I have had various employments. In the beginning of the millennium, I was director of design futures at Lego, in their new research department called Vision Lab, an initiative that I helped build up from scratch. Later I was for a number of years associate professor at The School of Architecture in Aarhus. I have also acted as visiting professor in design at The University of Umeå in Northern Sweden. I have taught at many schools and universities, primarily in Denmark, and since 2017 I have been external lecturer at DIS – Study Abroad in Copenhagen. Today I call my design firm Dickson Design.
And naturally, I spend a lot of my time writing books, and of course they are mostly about design.
For some years I have been vice chairman in the non-fiction section of the Danish Authors Association.
